HOOP YORK CITY | Est. 2018

Hoop York City® is a women’s basketball community founded by Alex Taylor in 2018, with a mission to close the gender play gap by creating more opportunities for women in NYC to hoop, connect and community-build.

Women so often find themselves having to fight for space and equality in the world, and more specifically, in the world of basketball. There’s a complete lack of safe spaces for women to play the game they love, engage in healthy competition and make meaningful connections with one another.

Hoop York City is looking to change the game.

While HYC is a community centered around basketball, over the years, other domains have become “interwoven into the fabric of the organization, including art, fashion and a commitment to community service.” (Drew Jones)

Today, our primary goal remains not only to facilitate opportunities for women to play and experience the game of basketball in a supportive and collaborative environment, but also to spearhead philanthropic projects that aim to inspire the next generation using basketball and art as the catalysts.
